Co-Create

Definition

Use AI as a thought partner, skeptic, challenger, scenario generator, simulator, and tool builder to improve the quality of leadership thinking, preparation, and decision-making. Co-creation is not about output volume — it is about thinking better.

What Co-Creation Looks Like

Co-creation applies where the work is judgment-heavy and the value is not speed but quality of thinking:

  • Challenge assumptions — ask AI to argue the opposite position, identify the weakest point in a plan, or surface what the team is not seeing
  • Generate scenarios and risks — produce alternative strategies, stress-test decisions, run pre-mortems before a commitment is made
  • Improve leadership preparation — prepare for difficult conversations, anticipate stakeholder objections, draft talking points across different audiences
  • Synthesize and reframe — pull patterns from large inputs (survey data, customer feedback, research) that would take days to do manually
  • Build thinking tools — use AI to create frameworks, templates, rubrics, or decision aids the team will use repeatedly

Concrete examples: Strategy option generation · Scenario planning and risk mapping · Decision pre-mortems · Leadership communication drafts · Customer insight synthesis · Training and workshop design · Role-play simulation for difficult conversations · Internal tool building

The Diagnostic Questions

  1. In your last major decision: what information did you not have but wish you had?
  2. Where does your team’s thinking get lazy or stay within familiar patterns?
  3. How could AI serve as your “Skeptic in Residence” — the voice that challenges before you commit?
  4. What tool would make your team substantially more effective, if you could build it in a day?

The Groupthink Connection

AI can serve as an effective devil’s advocate — but only if the team is willing to take the challenge seriously. If the culture suppresses dissent, AI-generated alternatives will be ignored or dismissed the same way human dissent is. Co-creation surfaces the quality of thinking; it does not fix the culture that shapes it.

What Co-Creation Is Not

Co-creation is not about having AI produce the final answer. It is about using AI to raise the quality of the human thinking that produces the final answer. The human remains responsible for judgment, context, and decision. AI is the sparring partner, not the decision-maker.
